recycled hand-blown glassware

GGRIL, the “Green Glass Recycling Initiative in Lebanon”, has launched a series of glassware using “waste” bottles that would most probably¬†end up in landfills.

Due to the lack of proper recycling facilities in Lebanon, this initiative works with traditional glass artisans in Sarafand, in the south of Lebanon, aiming to revive the old craftsmanship, that is on the verge of shutting down completely.

In their own words, “GGRIL addresses the lack of recycling of glass recycling in Lebanon by reviving the glass blowing artisanship to divert as much as possible of glass packaging bottles from ending up in landfills or forests where they are a major hazard of fire.”
